table for one, please
i remembered the wrong time for my lunch appointment with liyun and shirley this afternoon, so i reached bugis insanely early.
and then to make matters worse, i forgot to take down the exact address of the cafe, though i know it’s somewhere along arab street.
so naturally, i got lost.
but i like getting lost.
because that’s how i discovered this marvelous street (of which name i already forgot) with all the quirky shops and exotic cafes - my favourites!!!
to my surprise, there is a bed & breakfast there too. i didnt know there are bed & breakfasts in singapore, so i went to check it out. i havent stayed in one before but i guess it’s not unlike the normal hostels, only with breakfast included in the amount that you pay. and to my knowledge, bed & breakfast enterprises are usually like family or personal businesses, so are usually quite small and homely, i like that.

sleepy sam’s confirms this impression. the owner seems like a very nice guy too. he actually addresses his guests by their first names and is quite friendly and forthcoming. but they only had half the items on the menu, or maybe he just didnt really want to serve me food for fear that there wont be enough for his stay-in guests.
sat down for a glass of watermelon juice because the weather was freaking hot and i was feeling rather dizzy. i think i might have appeared way weird to passersby because i was walking like crookedly, instead of in a straight line, if you know what i mean.
when it was close to 12.30p.m, i attempted to look for the cafe again because i was afraid that they would give up my reserved seats if we were really late. got some directions from shirley and arrived at…

tracy recommended this swedish cafe some time back so i used this gathering as an opportunity to go check it out.
to my disappointment, the cafe was very crowded. i was expecting somewhere quiet and exclusive, hahaha. but the service was really good. the girls were very late so i ended up sitting by myself for about an hour? and the staff took turns to check on me and even chat with me.
i was famished (usually happens after drinking) to the point of being nauseous, so i decided to order my food first. i thought it would take them some time given the crowd, but it came relatively fast.
so i ended up eating lunch on my own. usually when i have to eat on my own, i would prefer to have a book or some videos on itouch to entertain me but i didnt prepare any today so i really had to concentrate on the food.

the aglio olio with shrimps is rather different as compared to the others that i have tried. its texture is a lot smoother, more moist and erm…kinda like softer? maybe they had soaked it in hot water for a longer time? or maybe because they used linguine (that’s linguine you see in the picture right?) instead of the usual spaghetti. it’s kinda weird, but not necessarily in the bad way. it’s very wet and spicy, and the garlic taste is not overpowering, which is quite a relief.
the apple crumble is not bad either, but i wasnt really craving for desserts (actually felt more like eating savory stuff), so i dont think i appreciated it as much as i should.
still, i actually enjoyed myself eating on my own. the heavy rain and slowly emptying cafe were starting to relax me too.
then the girls finally beat the rain and arrived at the cafe.

still looking so good, these chicas bonitas.

LOVE my new tutu skirt (though i feel i had mismatched it with this top). feel relieved that i didnt buy the plain black one from forever21 because it’s all the wrong size, and this looks way cuter.
:) :) :)
i look like i would drop onto the ground any moment and fall asleep. hahaha… mad cui.
