i steal your friends and you steal mine

had a preview of 15 minutes at laselle, where i am supposed to meet the jobscentral gang on friday.

but this time, i was actually heading for kichn at albert court village hotel. it’s a unique western cafe highly recommended by shirley.

they are cooking up a storm. but fortunately, the dining tables are in the alfresco area, where the storm would not stink up my hair, clothes and bag.

so excited about colouring my orders on the order sheet.
and i know tracy felt EXACTLY the same way. according to her, she was using her eyes to smile, hahaha! i’m sure you can see that.

colouring on the serviettes helped keep me awake as we waited for the “twins” (jiamin and huifoon both donned in mint coloured tops) to arrive.
and i love my drink.
diners get to choose what kind of mix they want and i took a shot at banana, oreo and milo.
gelat, i know, but yums max.

wish i had that kind of success with my food too.
fusilli covered with spicy crab sauce and two slabs of portobello mushrooms thrown in to make it look healthier than it really is.

satisfy gastronomic tantrums?
i’m afraid not.
only one word to sum it all: INSTANT.
you know, like instant noodles?
if a normal pasta dish is at beginner’s level in terms of difficulty, this would be like…pre-school level.
probably what it would taste like if i have cooked it myself. loads of pre-made sauce and erm…yes, the microwave.
i’m not sure if this is how the dish is made but well…i’m pretty sure it doesnt take a STORM to make it.
and the cardboard box and disposable cutleries add to that very amateur feel. urgh, imagine how unfriendly that is to the environment.
haha, but you get what you pay for lah. i mean, the main courses (with your choice of pasta, sauce and mains) range from $6 to $11. more importantly, NO GST OR SERVICE CHARGE!!!
fortunately, the ambiance is not half bad, unless it rains, which happened for about five minutes when we were there.
hahaha.
so anyway, the rest had a variety of pasta with chicken and ham roll (or something like that) and as expected, it tasted WAY BETTER!!!!!!
sigh.
i’m afraid such disappointment is fast becoming a recurring theme for my gastronomic life (if there’s such a thing).

i cannot quite remember the whole point of this dinner gathering but i enjoyed myself.
exactly what i need to kick start my new semester next week (yes, my class only starts next week, can?).
:) :) :)
